Community Choirs

If you are interested in joining one of our community choirs, there are two to choose from: The Ruddington Community Choir and the Lady Bay Community Choir.

The Lullaby of Broadway

The Lullaby of Broadway

The Ruddington Community Choir was created in March 2012 and was quickly followed by the launch of the Lady Bay Community Choir in October the same year. The choirs are based in the Rushcliffe borough of Nottingham; Ruddington is a village 5 miles away from the city and Lady Bay is an area of West Bridgford just two miles away. Both choirs were created in an afternoon at a singing workshop followed immediately by a concert for families and friends, raising funds for local charities. The choirs have grown in number since then – Ruddington has 40 members and Lady Bay has 60 – and both have gone from strength to strength, performing at community events in and around Nottingham.

Whilst the choirs have their separate identities they come together to perform two or three times a year, the highlight of which is our annual day out when we all get on a bus to travel to a choir Festival or event: The London Sangerstevne International Festival, The Sing for Pleasure anniversary performance of Vivaldi’s Gloria and, most recently, the Community Choirs Festival in Stratford-upon Avon.

Both choirs sing a range of music: pop, rock, light classical, jazz, gospel and folk. We are committed to our local communities and perform regularly to support local events and charities.

These recordings are taken from the combined choirs’ performance at the Community Choirs Festival on 21 March 2015.
