Despite the Ruddington Festival being cancelled due to waterlogged fields, Ruddington Community Choir was absolutely determined to perform their end of season programme. So, with the help of choir member Sylvia Sanderson and the ladies of Ruddington Methodist Church, they sang their hearts out at a special concert to coincide with the Ladies’ charity coffee morning and cake sale. Resplendent in red, white and blue, the choir ‘flashmobbed’ outside Ruddington Library to entice the audience inside, before performing their repertoire to an appreciative audience of friends, family and passers-by. A varied programme of pop, gospel and old-time classics such as ‘What a Wonderful World’ culminated in a stirring rendition of Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber and Gary Barlow’s Jubilee anthem ‘Sing’ complete with the beautiful voices of soloists Michelle Dickson and Louise Halliwell. The concert was a fitting finale to the choir’s first season after forming just four months ago.
After a break for the summer, the choir will meet again on Tuesday 4 Sptember before their first event of the Autumn season – Ruddington Family Fun Day on Sunday 8 September.
